Tues., March 10, 2026 (Virtual) 5 pm- 8 pm
Introduction to Mind-Body Medicine and Integrative Social Work
This introductory course equips social workers with the fundamentals of integrative social work and mind-body medicine. Participants will explore how core concepts, frameworks, and values of mind-body medicine align with social work competencies, gain an overview of mind-body interventions, and develop practical skills for application in their practice. The session includes theoretical discussions and experiential activities to deepen learning and application.

Evidence-based Approaches toward Integrative Social Work Practice
This continuing education class helps social workers enhance their practice by integrating evidence-based approaches. Participants will explore interdisciplinary methods to improve client outcomes through interactive discussions, case studies, and group activities.

Mind-Body Interventions and Ethics of Care within Social Work Practice
This course is designed to equip social workers with mind-body strategies to support their self-care and wellness, while addressing the increased risks of compassion fatigue and burnout inherent to the profession. Participants will learn practical tools to foster resilience, cultivate mindfulness, and protect against burnout. This workshop also covers the ethics of self-care in social work and addresses self-care in the context of equity and social disparities.

Ethical Considerations within Mind-Body Medicine and Social Work
This course equips social workers with a deep understanding of ethical considerations in integrating mind-body medicine into practice. It covers key ethical principles, the NASW Code of Ethics, and challenges related to informed consent, cultural competence, professional boundaries, and supervision. Participants will gain practical tools, such as decision-making matrices and case studies, to navigate complex ethical dilemmas.
The program is led by Dr. Joshua Hendrickson, a Clinical Social Worker and Mind-Body Medicine Expert, and an experienced team of LCSWs: Jessica Morgan and Nikki Barnett.

Lead Faculty
Jessica Morgan, LCSW
Jessica Morgan earned her master's in social work from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare in 2018. Jessica holds a postgraduate certificate in Gestalt therapy and holds a Mindful Eco-Therapy certificate.
Jessica uses an experiential approach that encompasses creative writing, poetry, art, and movement to explore the intersections of one’s internal and external landscapes. Jessica's diverse professional experience in mental health housing, community organizing, event planning, and the arts has cultivated an unrelenting interest in how narrative reflection, mindfulness, nature, and adventure can enrich our lives. Nikki Barnett, LCSW
Nikki Barnett is a seasoned educator, licensed clinical social worker, and mental health consultant with over 20 years of experience across teaching, training, and clinical practice. A proud graduate of Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare (MSW ’03), Nikki brings deep academic grounding alongside extensive real-world expertise.
Nikki partners with individuals and organizations to deepen understanding of stress, burnout, and resilience through a trauma-informed, nervous-system-centered lens. Her work uniquely bridges clinical insight and practical application, translating complex psychological and neurobiological concepts into clear, accessible strategies that foster sustainable wellbeing.
